Most couples don’t need more things to do together. They need time together without the noise: no work, no school runs, no chores, no one asking what’s for dinner.
A retreat gives you that. And it also gives you something many couples forget they need: a little time apart.
Why do couples need a retreat, not just a holiday?
Holidays as a couple can be surprisingly stressful. One of you plans everything. You disagree about where to eat. You rush from place to place trying to fit it all in. You come home more tired than you left.
A retreat takes those decisions away. Your meals are sorted, your days are simple, and you both get to rest. When the logistics disappear, there’s room for the conversations and quiet moments you’ve been missing. Read more about the biggest stresses of travelling to Bali and how we remove them.
Can we do things separately on a couples retreat?
Yes, and we encourage it. The best part of a retreat for couples is that you don’t have to do everything as a pair.
One of you might love a 7am reformer Pilates class, booked at reception. The other might love sleeping in. One might spend the morning in the gym, the other by the pool with a book. Both are right.
Then you meet for a long breakfast, a swim, the Recovery Center in the afternoon, and dinner by the ocean. You have more to talk about when you’ve each had time to yourselves. If one of you especially needs space, our guide to quiet time and personal space might resonate.
What do couples love most about the retreat?
The Recovery Center together
Sauna, hot plunge, cold plunge, back and forth, then a day bed side by side in the garden. It’s playful, relaxing and surprisingly good for conversation. See our guide to sauna, hot plunge and cold plunge.
Balinese massage
A long 80 minute Balinese massage each. On the 7 night retreat, you each get three.
A pool of your own
In a Beachfront Pool Suite, you wake up, open the doors and step straight into your own pool facing the ocean. It has a king bed, a waterfall shower and a deep soaking tub. The upgrade from a Resort Room is less than USD 100 per person per night, and it’s the one couples talk about most. Compare the rooms.
Sunrise on the beach
The sun rises straight out of the ocean at Keramas. A sunrise walk together on the black sand beach is one of the simplest, loveliest things you can do here.
Days out together
On the 7 night retreat, you’ll take part in a water blessing at Tirta Empul and spend a morning snorkelling at Blue Lagoon. Shared experiences like these tend to become the stories you tell for years.
Evenings at the Beach Club
On some nights, there’s a Bali Night or live music at the Beach Club. Reception will tell you what’s on.
No planning, no arguments about where to eat
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included every day. Each of you chooses any dish from the menu plus a non alcoholic drink, with coffee or tea at breakfast.
What if only one of us is into wellness?
That’s completely fine. Every class and activity is optional. Your partner can spend the week between the pool, the beach and the Beach Club, and still enjoy the massages and good food.
Many partners who come along “just to relax” end up in the sauna every afternoon. No pressure, though.
Is it good for an anniversary or honeymoon?
Yes. A Beachfront Pool Suite, sunrise over the ocean and slow days together make a beautiful anniversary or honeymoon.
Tell us when you enquire, and we’ll help make it feel special.
Is it good for couples with busy family lives?
Especially. If you’re parents, you probably haven’t had uninterrupted time together in a long while. Even three nights can feel like a gift.
Our men’s retreat guide also talks about how dads can use a retreat to come home more present.
Should couples choose 3 nights or 7 nights?
If you’re flying from Perth or have limited time, the 3 night retreat is a lovely reset.
If you’re coming from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or the US, or you really need to unwind, the 7 night retreat gives you time to switch off and reconnect.
Coming with other couples or friends?
A few couples travelling together, or a group celebrating a milestone?
Our group retreats can be shaped around you, and there’s even a hidden karaoke room for groups of four or more.
Getting here from Australia and the US
From Australia:
Perth is about 3.5 to 4 hours from Bali. Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane are around 6 hours.
From the US:
there are no direct flights. From the West Coast, allow around 20 to 21 hours with a connection. We recommend the 7 night retreat for American couples.
Your driver meets you at the airport, and everything from there is taken care of.
